Birchwood

Maggie had another great year at Birchwood. She was in Hilltop with a lot of her friends from last year. She went on a weeklong backpacking trip into Superior National Forest that had it's challenging moments - their water filter broke and they were without water for 24 hours until they met someone who lent them a new filter. The counselor wrote me a letter to let me know how Maggie's attitude really saved the day, she kept morale up, kept people laughing and is an extraordinary kid, especially in the face of challenges. But I already knew that! Maggie also auditioned for and was cast as Smee in Peter Pan, directed by Sarah, her cousin. Apparently Maggie's Smee was hilarious and got a lot of laughs. Sarah said Maggie came into the audition with an accent, some character 'bits' and really went for it, Smee was the part she really wanted. yay Maggie, I wish I could have seen it. There are some great pictures on the Birchwood sight of Maggie in the play, I'll try to get them and post them here. Maggie is already looking forward to going back to camp next year.Oh, the pictures of maggie dressed up are for Final Banquet on the last night of camp. The picture of her with her hair slicked back and sunglasses on is Talent Night where they did a lipsync to Uptown Girl.
